If you're one of the many people who have been in Larry's audiences over the last several years, then you don't need to be told that Larry is still playing all over the country. Larry plays gigs for anybody who wants his special brand of live music, and he goes anywhere he is welcome.
Larry's music is available on cassette, video and CD. His discography begins in 1965 with the hit record, Keep On Dancin' by The Gentrys. Larry was the leader/lead singer for The Gentrys and still takes The Gentrys around the country for live performances. From The Gentrys, Larry recorded his own original music with Larry Raspberry & The Highsteppers. He has recorded a total of eight LPS and a new archival CD, all available through this web site. More about that below.
Larry's songwriting has enjoyed cover recordings by such artists as Jimmy Buffett (Dixie Diner), Carly Simon (Tired of Bein' Blonde), The Everly Brothers (Always Drive a Cadillac), Carl Perkins (Let's Get Upset), and France's superstar, Johnny Hallyday (Let's Get Upset). Most of the music you hear Larry do on his own recordings are his original songs.
IT WAS A SPECIAL NIGHT, July 4th, and the last night that Solomon Alfred’s, Memphis’ only showcase nightclub, would be in existence. On July 5th, the wrecking crews and bulldozers would begin leveling the building. It was the end of an era in Memphis. The city that was known the world over for its music makers would no longer have a venue to offer travelling road bands and up-and-coming album acts. The resident rockers of Memphis would have nowhere to go . . . for how long? Who knew? It was a sad time. But it was also party time. Solomon Alfred’s would go down in style. Give away the bar and kitchen and rock around the clock for the last weekend. The Memphis mob would be out in force and ready for a mega dose of fun, frolic and frenzy. They would need enough temporary relief to get them through the long dry spell without a club like Solomon Alfred’s. Someone had to deliver the rock to the people one last time and make it stick. It was a nasty job, but somebody had to do it.

A little something for those who are so "cassette" in their ways. Although the new CD is not available on cassette, there are three other Larry Raspberry & The Highstepper LPS available on cassette only. They are called "Highstepper's Ball", "All The Way From Memphis", and a live cassette recorded in 1985 called "We Have Not Yet Begun To Sweat". Each cassette is 45+ minutes long and was recorded, mastered and manufactured under state-of- the-art conditions. In case your parents have told you about Larry in the Gentrys. It's true...Larry was the leader, founder and lead singer of the sixties hit group, The Gentrys. Their hit record, "Keep On Dancin'" was #4 on the Billboard charts in November of 1965. Although it was Larry and The Gentrys' only top 40 hit, it is among the top 3,000 greatest all-time rock & roll singles. The song has never been out of print since 1965. We are offering the largest CD collection of Gentrys songs including "Keep On Dancin'", and 13 other cuts by Larry and the original Gentrys recorded from 1965 through 1967. The Gentrys were the absolute last act to ever appear on Shindig, the ABC pioneer rock & roll show. This performance is part of the Rhino video entitled "Superstars of the Sixties". The final vinyl. It's hard to believe, but yes, we still have some copies of "In The Pink" and "No Accident" by Larry Raspberry & The Highsteppers on unopened vinyl.
